Walk'N Comfort's new 3D orthotic casting technology means custom orthotics in just days

For Immediate Release

Truly custom made orthodics in just days-not weeks
Walk'N Comfort's new 3D orthotic casting technology makes it possible

July 16, 2010, TORONTO - Walk'N Comfort offers truly custom made orthotics, and in less time than anyone else in the GTA.

Very few foot clinics in Toronto offer a truly "custom made" foot orthotic.

"Typically, in the orthodic's industry, 90 per cent of orthotics are sent to an orthotics manufacturing lab and take several days or even weeks to produce," says Mike Gaspar, CEO, Managing Director of Walk'N Comfort. "But under the guise of custom made orthotics, many orthotic labs use prefabricated orthotic shells from an inventory, or library of shells, choosing the one that fits closest to the client's mold."

In an effort to provide clients with quality footwear that result in healthy feet, Walk'N Comfort is committed to manufacturing orthotics that are truly "custom made." So, to overcome the perception that all foot clinics are alike, assure quality and speed up processing time, Walk'N Comfort implemented an industry leading, onsite state-of-the-art orthotic manufacturing system.

"Walk'N Comfort is unique in that patients can take advantage of our 3D custom orthotic casting, molding and fabrication system which allows us to provide a finished product in just days rather than weeks" says Mike Gaspar. "This unique technique captures a true 3-dimensional impression of the foot in both neutral non-weight bearing and weight bearing positions. Placing the two images on top of one another instantly provides a comprehensive visual analysis that helps to not only educate the patient, but to give us valuable information which we use in manufacturing the orthotics."

Additionally, this 3D technology keeps a digital copy of a client's foot casts (mold) in the on-site system - a great feature if you ever want to compare changes in the feet over time or if a new or replacement orthotic is needed quickly.

Since the average person takes 8,000 to 10,000 steps each day, and 75 per cent of North Americans experience foot health problems of varying degrees at some point in their lives, finding quality foot care professionals that can educate and assist in foot health should be made a priority.

"With the industry's reputation for taking weeks to produce a custom orthotic, Walk'N Comfort's ability to produce quality, yet truly custom made orthotics in just days, is an exciting break through," says Mike Gaspar.
